Cohen, Octavius Roy "Lady in Armor"

Complicated – and hokey – Southern Gothic detective/mystery story originally published as a magazine serial. Included in this bibliography for one of its key plot devices: the Sept. 1939 sinking of the unarmed British liner ATHENIA in the North Atlantic by a German U-boat. In Cohen’s tale, three character – two women and a baby – set sail for the safety of the United States after the outbreak of World War 2. The death of one in the ATHENIA sinking sets the stage for romantic entangles landside by the other surviving woman (the third survivor was the first woman’s baby – don’t feel confused, this is a serial plot after all!).
