Pentecost, Hugh "Death at the Whistling Buoy"

American Magazine tag line: “Protected by the fog, which lay like a thick, gray shroud over the refugee ship, a killer was at work. Before the GOTHENBURG, with her load of panic-stricken passengers docked in New York two people were to die.” Pentecost’s plot line ismore than a bit tangled. Among the GOTHENBURG’s passengers were American civilians who had been interned in Nazi “concentration camps,” several of whom plotted revenge against a French Fascist collaborator who’s also aboard and who had been interned with them all in Europe. The author presents an interesting moral quandary: should the murderer be exposed and punished? After all, the murdered man was both a Fascist and an enemy alien.
