Evans New
Driector as Krummes Retires
Rita Evans has been named Director
of the Harmer E. Davis Transportation Library, succeeding Dan Krummes
who retired at the end of June.
ITS Director Samer Madanat said
Evans, who has served as reference librarian since August 2001,
was a natural choice for the position and "will lead the library
in new and interesting directions."
Before joining the transportation library staff,
Evans worked for a variety of companies, including Wells Fargo,
AuctionWatch, the Law and Economics Consulting Group, Dolby Laboratories,
Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and Gulf Oil. She received
a Master of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Krummes has worked at UC Berkeley for 31 years
and at ITS since 1976. From 1992 to 1997 he served as co-director
of the library, and was named director in 1998 by former ITS Director
Marty Wachs.
His exceptional leadership was recognized by
the campus when he was named "Distinguished University Librarian" in
2005 by the Librarian's Association of the University of California,
Berkeley, the highest honor bestowed by the University upon campus
librarians.
"I am sorry to lose Dan's able leadership,
but congratulate him on his retirement, which he has richly earned," said
Madanat. |
