news>>awards>>kanafani honored by american university in beirut The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA) at the American University of Beirut honored Adib Kanafani with its first Distinguished Alumnus Award in Civil and Environmental Engineering in early June. Kanafani, the Edward G. & John R. Cahill Professor and Chairman of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley, received his Bachelor of Engineering in 1964 from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. The award was established to recognize those alumni who distinguished themselves through their profession, according to Ibrahim Hajj, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the university. It coincided with the first FEA Student Conference and Exhibition, which was held on June 6 and 7, and included faculty, alumni, students and parents. Kanafani delivered a talk entitled Serving a Connected SocietyThe Emerging Paradigm for Engineering and Education. The American University of Beirut was founded in 1866 and FEA in 1951. More than 6,200 alumni have graduated from FEA during the last 50 years. | ||
