Transportation Sustainability Research Center (TSRC) Research and Development Engineer Stephen Wong and Civil and Environmental Engineering post doc (with Professor Kenichi Soga) Bingyu Zhao won Best General Poster at the 13th International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS) Symposium April 26 to 30, 2021, hosted by the University of Waterloo, Canada. The poster was based on the working paper Developing Transportation Response Strategies for Wildfire Evacuations via an Empirically Supported Traffic Simulation of Berkeley, California. Wong also represented UC Berkeley, TSCR, and UC ITS at the symposium by presenting three posters on recent research on California wildfires and evacuation and participating in a panel session on COVID-19 and fire topics.
