The Pavement Research Center facilities are constantly being updated to include the latest in materials testing and fabrication technologies as well as the data processing power to perform complex analyses. This page lists some of the Pavement Research Center's facilities, including:
Fabrication

The Pavement Research Center has equipment for the fabrication of both flexible (asphalt) and rigid (concrete) specimens. The PRC equipment list includes:

  • 4 Gilson production sieves
  • Testing sieves
  • Dual-wheel vibratory rolling compactor
  • Pine Gyratory compactor
  • Hveem kneading compactor
  • Ovens from 0.7 cubic meters to 1.8 cubic meters
  • Array of molds for rolling wheel-compacted asphalt specimens
  • Single and double-bladed saws
  • Hobart asphalt mixer
  • Lancaster 1/3 cubic yard concrete mixer
  • Array of molds for concrete specimen fabrication
  • Multiple temperature-controlled curing rooms

Accelerated Pavement Testing Facilities

The Pavement Research Center has a dedicated facility and offices for construction and accelerated testing of full-scale pavements. The accelerated pavement testing facility equipment list includes:

  • 2 Heavy Vehicle Simulators
  • Indoor pavement testing facility
  • Accompanying climate control equipment (heaters, chillers, temperature control housing)
  • Multi-Depth Deflectometers (MDD), associated installation equipment, and field support vehicle
