Sample Size: There were 12,476 survey responses at the three Washington-Baltimore airports (Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport). Approximately 35% of the survey responses were collected at Washington Dulles International Airport.
Methodology:

Departing air passengers were surveyed in boarding lounge areas through the use of a self-completed questionnaire. The survey was conducted during two weeks in October 2000: from Sunday, October 15, to Saturday, October 28. A small number of flights that were either missed or required resurveying were surveyed during the period from October 29 to November 9. Approximately 200 domestic flights and 40 international flights were surveyed.
