| Methodology: |
The
Airline Passenger Survey was planned to be carried out during
both a summer and a fall wave in 2001. However, the summer
fieldwork was interrupted on September 11th, 2001 resulting
in cancellation of the proposed fall 2001 wave. Funding
was ultimately used to conduct another survey in the summer
of 2002, scheduled to replicate closely the summer 2001
survey. The primary purpose and use of the series of departing
passenger surveys has been for ground access planning. Only
departing air passengers waiting in the gate lounge area
to board were surveyed. Self-completion questionnaires were
collected before departure or mailed back in some cases.
