Brett Williams has worked for more than 10 years with leading companies and academic researchers in the U.S. and Europe to investigate the wide, rapid, and responsible commercialization of alternative fuels, electric-drive vehicles, and green power systems.

He received his Ph.D. in Transportation Technology & Policy at UC Davis, where he explored vehicle-to-grid power, the early market potential of plug-in/plug-out hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles, and advanced-vehicle market-development issues. While obtaining his degree at UC Davis, Williams also taught, earned a business-development certificate from the Graduate School of Management, worked for Ford, and was awarded NSF IGERT, U.S. DOE GATE, UCTC, and Eno Transportation Foundation fellowships.

Previously, he was a senior analyst at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), an entrepreneurial non-profit organization fostering technologies and strategies that enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. There he helped spin off Hypercar, Inc.® (now Fiberforge), consulted for automotive and energy firms, and was a member of the delegation to the 1999 G8 Environmental Futures Summit.

He received an M.Phil. in environment and development from Cambridge University (UK) and a B.A. in physics/public policy analysis from Pomona College (Claremont, CA).
